Nowhere to Be SOLC #6/31

I am joining Two Writing Teachers for the Slice of Life Story Challenge.  I appreciate this space for writers to tell their stories and connect with each other.

Ahh...

No where to be tonight.  No appointments.  No practice.  No meetings.

That means time to...

eat dinner together as a family,

share our gratitudes for the day,

sit together and compete with each other to answer the questions on Jeopardy.

guess the puzzle on Wheel of Fortune.

brush out tangles from freshly washed hair.

give reminders to stay focused on homework.

These nights happen so infrequently, making them even more special.  I appreciate the time to slow down a bit and just be.

  1. So true! Life is jam-packed when you have kids, so you need to enjoy those quiet evenings when you get them! :-) ~JudyK

  2. The only good thing about a busy life is that it makes one appreciate these nights even more! I especially love the line about sharing your gratitude, and imagine a world where everyone has the time to do that! Thank you so much for your post :)

  3. So jealous! Every Sunday we have a family meeting and we plan the meals we can actually be together every week. So sad ... I miss nights like the one you described. Hoping for a snow day tomorrow so we get snowed in together!
Thanks for reminding me of the good old days

  4. In my house it was hard to hear Jeopardy over the moans as we brushed that freshly washed hair.

  5. This sounds lovely. Our dinner was scattered tonight for good reasons and I wish it could of been together. It was last night and there was talk, laughter, and I'm sure annoyance. Not often but sometimes we do a high, low of the day and then Ashleigh added a ha ha.

  6. Oh yes how important it is to just be! "These nights happen so infrequently, making them even more special. I appreciate the time to slow down a bit and just be." Those are the nights they will remember. Hold tight to them.
