Unexpected Snow Day

Thank you to Two Writing Teachers for hosting Slice of Life Tuesdays.  I invite you to check their site to read other Slice of Life stories.

I got an unexpected snow day today.

My husband sent me this text.

Well, I didn't write a book, but I did read one.  (If you don't know about Net Galley, check it out.  You can read books before they've been published.)

Today was a day to be.  A day to slow down, breathe, and just be.  No rushing.  No racing after perfection.  Today just being was going to be enough.

Today...
I was a friend.
I was a baker.
I was a reader.
I was a dish washer.  (Oh how good it feels to have a clean kitchen).
I was an afternoon nap taker.
I was a mom.

No great achievements today.  But yet, I feel a great sense of accomplishment.  Because today, everything I did, I did with intention.

Just being was enough.

  1. Today, you had a great day - a day to just do the things you never have the time for. That's a perfect snow day!

  5. I like how you wrote that everything you did was with intention. Isn't that as it should be? Nice that you had a extra day gift.

  6. An afternoon nap taker - now that is the best! My OLW is intention and I have been trying to be more cognizant of these little things. Good for you!

  8. We had a snow day too. I did some of the same things! It was great. (and my house is still a mess since I only cleaned the kitchen once... oh well!)
