Another Chance
Can you ever, really find balance? It's always been a little elusive to me...but an ideal that I'm not
What makes this really funny is that I'm not a football fan at all. |
It began with a trip up north for a college visit at the University of Michigan. Our oldest daughter took a break from grad school and joined us for the weekend. Friday's weather was perfect...mid 70s, sun shining, fall colors at their peak. Saturday's gloomy rainy day did not keep us from visiting Dearborn's Greenfield Village where we explored the history of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, as
Lake Erie is one of my favorite places to be. |
The weekend was just what I needed. I returned feeling refreshed and ready to start again. Balance was regained. I'm under no illusion that it will last, but for now, I'll enjoy the feeling of all being right with the world.
It seems that connecting with our past is a grounding force providing a clearer picture of what we value in our present lives. I can SO SO connect to your post!
ReplyDeleteTime with family often helps with regaining balance. I'm glad you had the experience this weekend. It is so important.
ReplyDeleteI always feel refreshed after a weekend away ('til I start doing the laundry). It's amazing how a change of scenery and time with loved ones can restore balance and clarity.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Did you try Zingerman's when you were in Ann Arbor? That's my favorite Ann Arbor place to eat!
U. Mich. - my younger brother went there and we had great times visiting. How wonderful that you and Marlene have stayed in touch through the years - so much history!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect way to reset your mind! Sounds delightful, I'm needing one of those getaways but sadly it will be a while. Friends from days of old are priceless.
ReplyDeleteI think the small bursts help us sustain the balance. Jealous of your fall! We are still hot hot hot in Florida!
ReplyDeleteBalance is a word that has been teetering in my brain for some time. I love that a weekend away (even though you probably stressed before, thinking you didn't have time) can allow you the opportunity to refocus and regain that balance in life. What fun - and Michigan is beautiful in the fall!
